Apparently the GNUPG project have pointed out you can mitigate this "super scary" attack by using plain text mail.
The EFF telling everyone to disable and remove PGP encryption is frankly a bit silly.

@fuzzface this is another reason I'm kind of mad about this.
Not only has the EFF taken the bait and started spreading FUD, but the vulnerability itself hasn't been responsibly disclosed.
As a result they'e probably right that there aren't any fixes, because no one had the opportunity to write any in the first place!
@bobstechsite The S/MIME bug in Outlook is disturbing. A bit concerned I haven't seen a tool to scan Exchange for problem messages yet. Not sure I have the skills to write one.
