What color is a blackbody?

A blackbody, in this context, is just an object glowing with its own heat in a way unaffected by its composition. Things like hot iron or the interior of a glass furnace.

As the temperature rises, a blackbody starts to get brighter very rapidly. But its color also changes. We are familiar with red going to yellow going to white as an object gets hotter, but is that all that happens? What does it look like? (1/n)

I wonder how many people complaining about Mozilla switching to Discord have donated to the Mozilla Foundation.

I have a friend that wants to get into this whole computer thing. She isn't in it just to learn Python or whatever, but wants a broad view of the field. She does have a background in math.

I'm relying on your collective wisdom. Please reply with your entry-ish suggestions on anything computer related, from logic gates, to algorithms, to language theory, to anything.

Finally, kindly boost for visibility.

@dirt@lgbtq.cool This is the best professional habit I have, and I try to instill it in others.

I try to make it safe to be seen not know things, by being seen not knowing things (which is easy, because my ignorance is infinite) and by responding kindly to questions asked (which is harder, because depending on how knowledgeable they already feel, too elementary an answer can feel condescending and too advanced an answer can feel intimidating, neither of which makes them feel good to have asked).

The spring green smell and sunshine is in my head... not much work happening today.

If you think fertilized eggs are people but women who've walked their kids 2,000 miles aren't, stop pretending your concerns are religious.

Late night, root access, a couple beers and trying to GSD so I can actually go on vacation starting in the am. What could go wrong....

Thank god the entire industry hasn't decided to revolve around Blink/Chromium for 95% of the web's browser traffic, or else Google would have an unlimited ability to push forward whatever bullshit standard they wanted.

Wait hold on, my producer is telling me something [places finger on my ear piece]

Oh no.

You'd think by my late 50's I wouldn't be finding poignant meaning to my current job situation in teen-age angst songs.

People get productive when they can focus uninterrupted on one thing at a time. That's not exceptional. It's how the mind works.

What we call "hyperproductivity" is the norm. Your planning and meeting culture is the problem.

Yesterday's interview question:

"What do you look for in a new system?"

Better answer I thought up 10 hours later:

I'd probably do a lot better in interviews if I could just transmit messages back to myself in time.
