Hmm. The new Mastodon version has “trends”, which seem cool. Too bad each trend needs to be hand-approved by someone on our mod team, and there’s no way to auto-approve (like with hashtags).

I mean, I get it. Makes sense you’d want these reviewed first. But this also gives a new chore to our mod team, who is already hand-approving new user accounts. Hmm.

Season two was off to a rocky start but their finding their feet with Captain Tron pretty quickly. Things are heating up and it’s exciting!

I knew a bunch of homophobes hated Discovery because it has a gay couple and I was curious to see the portrayal of gayness that had upset them so much.

It’s literally, just, a couple brushing their teeth before bed lol. That’s it, that’s all it takes to set these people off. Two men doing normal life stuff together.

I’ve been at home sick this past week but took a break from B5 to zip through Star Trek: Discovery season one for the first time. The two contrast with one another and it was fun to watch something new.

Impressions with season one:

- Michael Burnham is a great lead
- Lorca was amazing
- omg Tilly
- why do they feel the need to reference TOS so much?
- MY MAN SARU
- Shazad Latif’s portrayal was *so good*
- didn’t care for the Klingons

also I don’t think Mastodon (or Twitter) should have an Edit button

looks like indexing on `null` values takes up database space, so the new indexes ignore nulls, neat! https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/17711

mmm there are also post-deployment migrations which... also add new indexes to the statuses table hmm
