@ashfurrow all engineers (even software engineers) deserve a little shame, as a treat

Folks, wonderful news on my USB3/Bluetooth interference problem. Turns out, switching which USB-C port on the computer that the hard drive cable is plugged into has fixed the problem 🎉

I maintain that this is poorly thought-out design and that the engineers who are responsible (all of them) deserve at least a little shame.

brb covering my drive in freaking aluminium foil because, as my father the mechanic has always said: engineers have no sense of real world uses of the things they design

freaking, ugh. the router only knows how to expose the first drive partition to the network 😥

tech nostalgia

so I don't mean to alarm anyone, but you can buy an iPod mini off eBay for pretty cheap, and its hard drive is easily replaceable with a Compact Flash card, and so anyway the iPod should arrive sometime next week 😊😅

swear to god I'll attach this hard drive to my router and access it over wifi before I attach a goddamn *cable* to my mouse smdh

the popular conception of AI as inherently unbiased is soooo destructive lmao

I bought a new USB 3 cable for my hard drive, but whenever I write to the disk my Bluetooth mouse starts lagging. MacOS shows the link quality dropping to zero. Awesomeeeeeee

Damn, Apple's contributing ARM ports to a bunch of big open source projects.

So tired of the "warrior race" trope in science fiction. Why does everybody's hobby always have to be war when war clearly sucks and is really unsustainable? Why can't we have, like, a powerful empire of beekeepers? A galactic nation of painters? A league of alien philatelists?

tl;dr for my presentation is basically this slide

I'm trying to communicate that a team's technology choices and its culture aren't two things. They're the same thing, whether you think of them that way or not.
