Hmm. The new Mastodon version has “trends”, which seem cool. Too bad each trend needs to be hand-approved by someone on our mod team, and there’s no way to auto-approve (like with hashtags).

I mean, I get it. Makes sense you’d want these reviewed first. But this also gives a new chore to our mod team, who is already hand-approving new user accounts. Hmm.

@puniko they have distinct UI for approval and settings in the admin interface. Trends are posts, trending hashtags “belong to” posts.
