I have been *struggling* since moving back to Canada. New York has such mild winters that it was easy to run year round. Here it hovers around freezing a lot of daytime hours, so the (paved) running trail is covered in black ice š¬š¬š¬ Iām learning how weather affects the ability to run safely outdoors where I live, but itās been a challenge. Plus, itās cold!!!
So yeah. The ability to get my heart rate up as high as I want, indoors, quietly?

@ashfurrow Nice! I've only gone running a few times in winter, but the cold air isn't good for my asthma unfortunately, so I need to do stuff indoors. I want to get exercise stuff, but it's really expensive.

@erinzer04 yeah, the air is rough for sure. Iāve never owned an exercise machine before, it was definitely a decision I made carefully š¬ itās got a five-year warranty so hopefully this investment pays off.

@ashfurrow @gudenau Minneapolis gets almost as cold as Canada away from the coasts.
2 years now and I *don't* miss the cold yet, just went for a nice 2 mile walk in a light jacket. In mid January. It was nice.

I prefer the rare -20F day over the rare 120F day.

Rowing machine arrived this afternoon! Setup was easy, with two people. Did my first workout this afternoon
Iāve only ever used these as a warmup/cool down for strength workouts at the gym, so doing twenty minutes of rowing as itās own workout left my legs feeling like jelly.
