@ashfurrow Well, you can find shrink-wrapped bread in the few places in Europe where they sell pre-sliced bread. And it's usually pretty bad bread.

@deshipu @ashfurrow we totally have it in czechia and can confirm the bread is never very good. they pack it with chemicals to last longer I guess

luckily they still stock normal bread because most locals don't buy this junk

@piggo @ashfurrow No, you don't eat the, you use them instead of baking paper at the bottom, to avoid the dough sticking in the really good breads. I guess some of the spiciness and smell transfers into it.

@deshipu interesting! It's fairly common here, even among nice breads!

@ashfurrow double-wrapping helps protect against potential punctures in the outer bag letting air in and spoiling the bread. Also, the inner wrap is slightly more structurally hard which aids in squish-protection. That’s my guess.

I've always wondered this myself. And it's always the good stuff. Maybe it's cause we're all fat and they're trying to slow is down by wrapping it twice. :P

@Montesboogie apparently it exists in other countries, but usually on not-fresh breads.
