We’ll be restarting our web server process in five minutes. Expect <30 seconds of downtime.

We have added language to our Code of Conduct to make this explicit: stalking, harassment, hate speech, or doxing is not allowed, even if you do it on other instances (or even other social media platforms).

We're going to reboot in 5 minutes to apply a small change to our CSP headers. This change should resolve issues that users have been seeing with inline styles being ignored since Sunday's upgrade.

The upgrade to Mastodon 3.3.0 (from 3.1.5) has been completed. We will monitor for issues throughout today. Release notes are here: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/releases

We’re running a database backup now, when it finishes we will take the instance down.

Sunday morning, at 7:00 EST (12:00 UTC) this instance will enter a maintenance window to perform server upgrades. Expect downtime, possibly extended downtime. We will post once it is finished. Thank you for your patience.

Latency is returning to normal. Low-priority tasks are still an hour behind, which can affect things like search indexing. But normal posting should work as expected again.

We’re still experiencing problems and are actively tweaking server configs. Expect slower performance and intermittent downtime throughout the day.

Latency continues to be lengthy, but it is decreasing. We've made changes to our Postgres configuration to help. (We have further changes planned.)

"Latency" in this case is the time it takes for Sidekiq background jobs to go from enqueued to completed. It's currently at ~20 minutes, so (for example) if someone posts a toot it takes 20 minutes to show up in your feed. Not ideal.

We've made further tweaks to our server concurrency/resource utilization, to try improving the poor latency we've seen today.

Due to increased inbound traffic, we’re seeing increased load and latency on the server. We’re monitoring.
