We have completed the upgrade of Mastodon from v3.4.6 to v3.5.2 –you can read the release notes here: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases

We'll be monitoring the server but the upgrade went smoothly and we're not expecting any further complications. Reach out to @ashfurrow with concerns/questions.

The server is handling load a lot better today, since our config changes. We have re-opened signups. Thank you for your patience 🙏

Sidekiq queues are cleared. Image uploads are working again and the instance is operating normally. We'll evaluate re-opening registrations tomorrow.

Additionally, image uploads are currently not working. The issue will resolve once our Sidekiq queues clear up.

We have also temporarily paused account deletions because they place a heavy load on us.

We have temporarily closed new account registrations while we sort out some scaling issues. Existing users may still invite their friends at https://mastodon.technology/invites

Server performance is currently degraded due to the influx of new users to the fediverse. Expect delays with federated posts, link previews, and even local interactions.

Mastodon works through a kind of “eventual consistency” and this is how it handles increased load. Thanks everyone!

This is the first (!) upgrade to Mastodon that we've done since moving off Docker last summer, so, send @ashfurrow positive vibes only please.

Tomorrow afternoon, at 4pm EST (21:00 UTC) this instance will enter a maintenance window to apply software updates. Expect intermittent downtime. We will post once the maintenance window closes.
