I’m like 4 for 4 on upgrading a system and unintentionally breaking PostgreSQL. Charlie Brown and Lucy and the football.

After months of intermittent struggle, I have a Relay app working. I'm excited about this although Relay still seems crazy to me.

I guess I can download GitHub (et al.) repos with the Buffer iOS app - It's missing something I can put my finger on.

We still have a tech position open at the Freedom of the Press Foundation (a nonprofit): a Sr. Software Engineer position to work on SecureDrop, the open source whistleblower platform used by 65+ media organizations, originally developed by the late Aaron Swartz.

You get paid to work
✅ from anywhere in the world
✅ on a world-changing project
✅ that's open source,
✅ stewarded by a small team
✅ that's led by a woman.

Help spreading the word is much appreciated:

Is there an anonymous medical rant board? Should there be? Or would it tend to dissipate energy that should instead be focussed on solutions?

Google translation of front page blurb of 'Hello. Here is the mastodon server "for Japanese who want to live artistically". The theme is "to live artistically and to be an artist has nothing to do with relation".'--I think that last bit should be more like "Living artistically has nothing to do with being an artist" but I don't understand Japanese.--One can only guess at the bizarreté being hatched over there 🍱

What’s going on at Getting lots of odd follows.

Hey friends, just a little reminder that I'm struggling to make ends meet, so if you need any editing/proofreading work done, hit me up.

Alternatively, you could buy my #DnD stuff (and remember to leave a review if you like it!) or support my work on Patreon.

Boost are also appreciated.

Relevant links are in my bio.

Thanks, #Mastofam

Observation 3
I often have the urge to convert a code base to PDF so I can store it on my phone and peruse it on the subway. Just me? (3/3)

Observation 2
gyp, node-gyp, fibers: amirite? (2/3)

Three observations
Observation 1: I did that thing where I solved a thorny problem, failed to document the solution, and now am seeing the problem again (1/3)

I've been working on a book called "The Mediocre Programmer".

It's a book that was born out of the frustration I had when I was unemployed for the last part of 2016 through most of 2017. I had so many interviews and what-not that never panned out, and coding interviews that never turned into job offers. I felt for all the world like I was going to have to leave the field altogether because nobody wanted me, a mediocre programmer.
