โ€œPower loves ambiguity. It loves receiving and demanding the benefit of the doubt, because it almost always benefits whenever there is doubt... Power greatly prefers conversations about intent to conversations about outcomes and consequences, and it loves both euphemisms and the kind of โ€œfairnessโ€ that pretends that historical facts and real-world power imbalances donโ€™t exist, or if they exist, they probably donโ€™t apply hereโ€

for EU citizens, UBI petition :boost_ok:

Turns out there is a petition for UBI in EU which desperately needs your signature: eci.ec.europa.eu/014/public/

(I cannot sign because apparently residents don't have a vote, you have to be a citizen to sign)

This is my sixth winter ever. Or it would be if there was any snow. :bongocat:

I'm really loving but also really disturbed by reading Diaspora - Greg Egan. Mostly about the time scales and perception of self and time. But this is exactly why I like science fiction.

You can produce "content" for yourself, and just for yourself (and friends and family), without having to "productize" it or make it "scale."

This even goes for software you write.

@sudoreboot and I made some marzipan animals. I think they are too cute and as a consequence I won't be able to eat any.

Spotify statistics contamination

This year I went from being aware of only like 6 Beatles songs, to listening to ALL of the Beatles stuff with the explicit purpose of solving a series of local geocaching mysteries, including small differences in versions between different box sets... To not listening to the Beatles at all again (Though I genuinely did enjoy some of it, I just never get a craving for it).

And now all my Spotify statistics for 2020 are ruined. They think I love The Beatles.

Why is it called to "mount" a device into a filesystem. Why mount?

And that picture is a lot brighter than what I see with my eyes!

Looking at the weather we've had lately gives me the same sort of feeling I get when looking at a really ugly website.

Damn my ability to cope with the world keeps going down.
I should probably make a mastodon in another instance because I'm definitely not talking about technology lately.

Mh bad

Waking up at 3 am again from pure anxiety

Someone I know wants to try out Mastodon, but he doesn't know English. Is there:

A) A way to look for users speaking a particular language?

B) A Polish instance that's well moderated (no bigotry allowed on there)?

Please boost, even if you don't know ๐Ÿ˜“

Spent the whole day playing a cute open source rpg called Veloren.

Mastodon for Tech Folks

This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
