@emdeesee Pretty meh, huh? I liked it at first, but...
@Theophilus But...? Anything stand out as not particularly outstanding?
For me, ello was insufficiently different to dislodge birdsite and facesite from my attention, with the added disadvantage that I really did feel like I was shouting into the void when I posted anything.
I tried Google+ too, and it was my primary social platform for a while.
Decentralization is a major feature for me, so I was interested in Diaspora, and made donations there in support of development.
@emdeesee I liked the original clean and simple interface. Then they decided to put an annoying bar at the top that could not be done away with. Loading time was another fault, and as you scrolled, it loaded out of order leaving the middle empty. Overall, just not very usable.
@Theophilus I think I signed up and get annoying emails from ello. Thats about it.
@stochastix You aren't missing much. I have even unsubscribed from the emails.
@Theophilus
Ello tasted a little bit blunt, and Gab was too salty.
@Uhrheber That's pretty much it! I've noticed that Gab seems to only be about politics. I posted regular FB type crap there, but unless I posted "All hail king Trump" there was no response.
@Theophilus thought about, but didn't. I especially agree with #Gab: censorship and thoughtbubbling *are* menacing social media quality - but their "solution" really doesn't hold water.
Mastodon is closer to the mark - a structure (rather than an owner) who is ostensibly better at bringing out the best in social interactions. Still, it goes out of its way to provide (group)censorship features: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/1821
@Theophilus I tried ello. It was 😐 for me.
