Turns out, the M1 Mac mini was going to sleep because the screen was off. While trying to build code and run tests. After fixing the power settings, it's going nice and fast.

I don't know what it is, but the M1 Mac mini is slow as hell when using it as a GitLab CI Runner. Takes ages to pick up tasks, takes ages to run them... and I'm only using it for native tasks.

The amount of marketing spam Lenovo sends out... you'd think they could manage to ship product in less than four months.

Firefox 91 makes the new space-wasting and bad (UX-wise) tab design mandatory.

At least I only need to wait a few weeks for them to change it again.

I've been using an M1 MacBook Pro for a few days:

* the TouchBar(TM) remains a stupid gimmick, I'm glad they separated the Esc key and Power/fingerprint sensor
* it's nice and smooth, even with Intel binaries
* Apple's dev environment continues to frustrate me, and I'm not even trying to use Xcode
* stereo separation on the built-in speakers is fantastic, they sound really good

Impatiently waiting for Apple to get around to releasing a real Pro machine that can handle at least 32GB of RAM though.

I hate windows without title bars. Whoever came up with this "innovation" (which makes it harder to switch between windows, and to drag windows) has set back human-computer interaction and made things worse.

Screens are bigger than ever, we don't need those 16? 20? pixels back.
