Pinned toot

Introduction time! Hello, everybody, this is Mr. Eight-Three-One!

You most likely know me from YouTube. Welcome to my thought dump! I'm a hobbyist archivist, an electrical engineer by day, and a geek by night. I love computers, vintage and modern. I also like old computer games, some modern games, and technology in general. Tech is my daily life!

I'm pretty chill, and also weird. I lean conservative, though I've got a diverse group of friends of all backgrounds. Hope you can be one of them too!

birdsite, politics

I do like this place alright, but I don't think it's quite for me.

I know I haven't really been posting here much; I'm not sure I will keep at it. It's a little hard on me to keep track of too many social media feeds at once, since I have 831's Twitter, my other Twitter, and YouTube, all of which I keep pretty consistent track of.

Sometimes I look back on all the time and work I've spent on Humongous Fan Soundtracks and just smile at myself

Hi, my name is Mr. Eight-Three-One, and I don't know how to socialize as an adult

Sorry about the sudden silence. I need to find things to do so I can talk about my niche hobbies again, heh.

DOSBox was actually updated.

I had to do a double take and see if I was just imagining it.

...I completely missed that today was 8/31.

I have failed. I am so sorry.

In other news, I'm getting quite acquainted with chord.wav again. Windows 95 will do that for you.

Oh my word, this is beautiful. Not even Voodoo graphics emulation slows this down.

I've never felt so powerful using (a facsimile of, but still) a computer from 1998.

Holy shoot. 233 MHz Pentium running at full speed on PCem. I could NEVER achieve something like this on my last computer. Now I suppose it's time I tried out Voodoo emulation, that's what really choked it before.

I ought to try PCem on my new computer. A better processor might mean I am easily able to emulate Pentium-era machines now!

Wait, what

Seriously, what

Did I just accidentally walk back into 1995 for a minute

I decided to resist the urge to install Classic Shell on my new PC due to it always wrecking performance on boot, so now I'm trying to get used to Windows 10's start menu...I can't say I'm terribly big on it.

I gotta be honest, if I had to listen to one song for the rest of my life, it'd probably be the Jurassic Park theme. Yes, really.

Wanna know my single most unpopular opinion?

I actually liked middle school.

No, this is not a joke. This is not ironic. I loved middle school. They were some of my favorite years of my life.

🎵 I'm busy, busy
Dreadfully busy
You've no idea what I have to do
Busy, busy
Shockingly busy
Much much too busy for you

Wait a minute...

Tomorrow would typically have been my first day of school...

But for the first time in a decade in a half, I DON'T HAVE TO START SCHOOL
