Occassionally wondering if I post too much about tech stuff. 😕
@Gargron@mastodon.social A valid concern if posting too many unrelated topics "as the same source". Read on to see why I SPLIT my activity into several ACCOUNTS, + why this (increasing) #informationOverload #dilemma should be addressed at the core of the #Mastodon #platforn. #strategy Show more
@infO_Overlord I see a problem with your approach of using different "actors" to post "notes" of different categories (axes, topics...):
They are really dimensions of the same universe meaning that actually one note belongs to several axes. I see that you are trying to compensate this problem with reblogging (as another "axis"), but for me this looks ugly and only introducing unnecessary noise.
Adding tens of tags to one post also looks like abuse, unfortunately...
Hmm, that is to my knowledge a pretty strong word, which I am surprised to see in this context.
Do you mind providing some reference(s) on which perspective(s)/policies/views you mean might determine whether using multiple tags may be seen as "abuse" or not?
Just curious, as that is very far from what its purpose is.
Purpose: Tags enable people to find related #content when they are searching or subscribing to #tagfeeds.
Each account a #multilevel #filter by itself.
With focused accounts, it is much easier for everyone to select both who to follow (and even find/identify them in the first place), AND who to mute.
There's penty of #dilemmas around the current muting feature, but IMO muting has a huge, positive/practical potential if it can be used as part of the toolset of #filtering in/out content based on #interests (#tagging) and #reputation (ref. focused accounts).
When checking out a new person that you do not know much or anything about yet, then it would be very practical and time saving to be able to ask for a list of that person' s toots limited to those with tags "#a & #c", "#b or (#d and #e), etc.
Would also be useful just to see the #tagcloud of that individual with counters showing how many (re-*)toots there is per such specified tag.
