I still playing with #golang
Defining private or public stuff by lower or upper case is definitely something I need to get used to.
It took me 30 minutes to figure out that this was the reason my json structure stayed empty π€¦ββοΈ
I've started to play with GO.
Interesting stuff but now I have the problem I always have: what to do with it?
I am utterly uncreative when it comes to think of new private projects ...
I always end up some very easy games like a console-based sudoku, a 2048 clone or something like that ...
Maybe I should do more
https://www.reddit.com/r/dailyprogrammer/ then I have at least some task to do π
I have to use skype on a windows 10 mashine but I am not allowed to use the windows store.
To install skype without the "please use the store" message, one has to run the .msi file in windows 7 compatibility-mode.
Rest in peace, Dr. Hawking.
Great blog post on Slack's "bait and switch".

"The reason email is federated, is because it was developed before surveillance capitalism was a thing and because it was established and entrenched long before these companies came around.
There's a reason why your email address is still the de facto way to sign up for any service on the web (sometimes with one or two degrees of separation), and it's because of federation."

Very interesting and worrying at the same time...
But I wonder how much influence filtering and sorting algorithmics have in that. π€
Anyone else seen this?
The future, if Charlie Stross is to believed, is paying bitcoin to a blackmailer in Russia who can cancel your flight reservation the day before you travel.
This image from the article is fucking amazing https://www.heise.de/ct/ausgabe/2018-6-Verteiltes-soziales-Netzwerken-mit-der-Twitter-Alternative-Mastodon-3976925.html @eloquence
I just received a mail with a error message.
BUT: this message was in a PDF attached to the mail. This PDF contained was a very bad black&white scan from a _printed_ screenshot ... πΆ
And there goes 1TB of data down the drain ... Movies, Musik, eBooks ... all gone ... keep Backups people ... I'm the one to tell everyone and yet fail to do it my self ...

I just returned from the german .Net Conference "Basta".
Very fun! I heard about a ton of new stuff.
But the most interesting thing is the revitalised spark for my day to day job. A colleague and I have a ton of new ideas!
I wonder how long it will hold up π
Phew! I just installed arch linux from scratch! Figuring out the bootloader and that UEFI stuff took way longer than I thought it would ...
In the end was the problem a BIOS configuration which allowed both: legacy BIOS boot and UEFI boot.
Anyways! The base system is up an running. I think I learned something too, if not it was still fun! π

I can't stop laughing about this whole #Strava "leak"-thingy. π
It is _very_ amusing to read reactions that a fitness tracking app is actually tracking you! π±
New year, new podcast?
Here's the pilot episode for a new series I've just started.
It covers recent free software/open source news, the geekery I'm getting up to in my spare time and (this episode) my journey with GNU/Linux.
Monday: I thought I forgot my smartphone while listening to music on it ...
Just got back from 2 weeks vacation without any access to my smartphone or the internet. It fellt strange at first but it was very relaxing.
Just me, my girlfriend, a few books and the burning sun of Zanzibar. ποΈ
(Well and the sort of foodpoisoning I got on my last evening...π)
Damn ... I've got bad luck with devices lately ...
First my smartwatch breaks, then my smartphone and now my tablet π
First world problems galore ...
The bright side: there is not much left that actually CAN break ...
