Mastodon n00b question:

I've never use hashtags much on Twitter, what is usually a good way / good practice to use hashtags here?

. @Em0nM4stodon Hashtags are useful in introductions or when you're trying to connect with kindred spirits. Will you share #catpics on #caturday? Do you want to boost concerns about #ClimateChange? Your choices, your tags

@Em0nM4stodon I tried searching for specific content and searching for plain text just doesn't give any results. Only searching for hashtags works, so I plan to use them more.

I think the best way is to incorporate them into the normal text flow and alternatively putting them at the end of you can't?

@aliciabytes Oh that's interesting! Very good to know about the search results! I will try to use them more here as well then. Thanks for the advice!😊👍

@Em0nM4stodon By design, toots are not searchable, only hashtags are.
So using a hashtag or not is basically your decision about 'Do I want to turn up in searches for this topic?'
