A wooden gate to a back yard has a square hole, a little under a foot square. A red dog with tightly curled hair, looking a little like a piece of fried chicken, sticks their muzzle out with the rest of their face hard up against the gate. The dog looks like an Airedale terrier.

There's a group of fossil bivalve mollusk with genus name Megalodon.
There isn't much online about them, but ask GPT-3 to write a press release about them and it will generate lots of "details" about how it's a giant terrifying predator.

Hi, I'm Cryo, co-creator of Drugs & Wires - 90's cyberpunk comic set in Eastern Europe. I do other art too but mostly post webcomic-related things and personal life stuff on here.

For folks who are new to Mastodon and are intimidated by the timeline, here's my suggestions for awesome accounts to follow:
@Curator — The admin of .ART, often boosts really lovely art, as well as creative/artistic exercises and reference images and resources.
@APoD — A bot that shows you awesome astronomy photos every day.
@todayilearned — Another bot filled with interesting tidbits/trivia (quality varies, though!)

Righto, here’s my fedi-tips:
- it’s slower here, less addictive than corp social media. This is a good thing, try and enjoy it.
- you see what you follow. No ads, no obscure reshuffling, no manipulating your emotions. Enjoy that too.
- please consider using CWs. Could it hurt, shock, upset, harm?
- please describe your pictures if you can
- give benefit of the doubt: text easily misleads
- shared something negative? Maybe follow with positive action.
- fash, queerphobes, bigots: fuck off 💚

Masto? *So* much engagement. So much fun discussion. So much more community.
Numbers don't mean squat if you don't have the follow through. I've never sold a single piece of art through Insta. People on Insta like passively browsing through images and tapping the heart. For an artist, it's a useless audience.

I decided to give two neural nets a go at the Great British Bakeoff technical challenges. They did both much better and much worse than I had guessed.

the delicious irony: creators of industrial language models are now worried about no longer being able to use the web as their "commons" (i.e. other people's labor that they appropriate and commercialize) because their own outputs are "polluting" it (via https://mailchi.mp/jack-clark/import-ai-266-deepmind-looks-at-toxic-language-models-how-translation-systems-can-pollute-the-internet-why-ai-can-make-local-councils-better)
hi all, anyone have recommendations for articles about running tildeverse servers/pubnixes? I'm looking for manifestos, theoretical approaches, historical reports and personal accounts as much as I'm looking for practical advice and technical information
(I am aware of Paul Ford's tilde.club medium post)
