Church we're looking at visiting has a good idea: a masks-required section in the balcony. Seems obvious in hindsight: why not let the folks that want/need the most precautions sit together?

I also like the evidence of their original draft title in the URL. Like "very cute, but nobody even *knows* that `expo build` is called 'turtle'"

I really appreciate Expo's commitment to continuing to have a free option for the community. Their communication about build changes here was very clear, there was lots of advance notice, and in fact the "EAS local runner" option is even better for me: smaller .ipa file, faster to do the build locally, saves an extra network trip, and I don't mind having the deps installed. blog.expo.dev/turtle-goes-out-

Marcus Mengs posted HTTP dumps from #Instagram mobile app that collects and sends to Meta the following details:

SSID and BSSID of all local WiFi networks, including yours
BLE beacons
Detailed GPS (!) location

Interested in react-native-web to deploy the same app to mobile and web? Since meetups are still virtual you can join this one from anywhere in the world: I'm giving a talk on my RN Web project surelytodo.com on December 1 at 7pm ET - meetup.com/React-ATL/events/28

Amazon offered me $40 to shop in the (native) app instead of the web site. Makes you wonder how much surveillance they're doing in the app. Or maybe notifications just let them get you to buy more.

I finally fixed the last bug in my integration. The issue is too complex to fit in my upcoming meetup talk, but I think it's better to put in a standalone blog post anyway, so folks can easily reference it.

What you think hacking looks like vs. What hacking actually looks like

Did I find a way to work a reference to Smalltalk into my talk about React Native Web? Yer darn right I did.

Those of us who work as software developers and have some money to spare really need to support open-source software. I'm thinking through who I can do some year-end donations to. Take some time in the next few days to think through it, especially if you're in the US and have a holiday.

I wondered if animated QR codes for data transfer were a thing, and it seems someone tried it. Topped out at 9KBps whereas simple IrDA can achieve up to 4Mbps, but still cool divan.dev/posts/animatedqr/

The most egregious "Black Friday creep" I've heard so far. I just heard an ad today (Thursday) that said "Black Friday ends soon!"

I haven't been in the Android Emulator in a few weeks, and apparently they just don't connect to the internet right now ☹️

Me watching a superhero movie: "The evil organization that is clearly on a path to destroying the world can convince thousands of people to work for it? Right."

If you don't know how to answer this question or are tired of answering it, here are five reasons you might use a dynamically-typed language: codingitwrong.com/2021/11/23/w
