SBC#0 main board now fully populated.

Sanity checked the address decoding by matching measured pulse durations of /ROM, /RAM, /IO and the 8 individual IO select lines against calculated - all within range. ✅

(Simulated the actual logic of it in Digital before building it so hopefully no surprises here once I start to actually consume these signals... 😅)

If you are setting your torrent client to "English (GB)" you are technically not pirating.

You are privateering.

For any trans people who need to hear this:

Your body is beautiful. You're worthy of being desired, if that's something you want.

Whether you choose to transition (and in whatever direction you want), and wherever you are in that process -- you're seen, you are believed, and I'm proud to be your sibling.

When you look in the mirror, you deserve to hear, "Hey, Beautiful." If you don't hear it in your voice, hear it in mine.

Your strength is incredible. You come from a long tradition of transgender people, stretching back to the earliest days of humanity.

Let the haters shout into the void. You don't need to. The Void already loves you. ✨

Old Floppy Drives

Half tempted to scoop em up just to save them from the landfill. Auction ends tomorrow night. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Old Floppy Drives

Anyone familiar with these MPI disk drives? These are on a local auction site and no one has bid on them yet. I have zero use for them, but they might be kinda neat to own as a display piece. No idea what kind of computer they came from or if they are worth anything,

Birdsite

@steve @mos_8502 @BigPete oldbytes.space seems to be a good option, too. Saw some peeps joining that. It's a hobbyist run instance.

Birdsite

@mos_8502 @BigPete @janbeta if I can give a small plug for my own retro leaning instance, retrochat.online too ;). It is only tiny though

Built an mt32-pi using the ClumsyMIDI Pi Hat: github.com/gmcn42/clumsyMIDI

Eventually I’d like to design my own board for the MT32-pi, but I have a ton to learn before I’ll be able to do that.

Emulation of Retro Computers

Managed to get an FM Towns emulator running:

Okay, it's time to tell new users a secret about Mastodon.

Mastodon is (whispers) part of a much bigger network 😮

Mastodon servers use an open standard called ActivityPub to talk to each other. That's how you interact with people on other Mastodon servers.

But, dozens of other federated networks also use ActivityPub, so (this is the good bit!) you can follow people on these other networks from your Mastodon account!

For example:

PixelFed (pixelfed.org) is a photo sharing network, here's a random example account @Iancylkowski

PeerTube (joinpeertube.org) is a video sharing network, with a p2p system that allows videos to go viral even on small servers, here's a random account @craftykat

BookWyrm (joinbookwyrm.com) is a social reading site, an open alternative to Amazon's Goodreads, here's a random account @mouse

Together, Mastodon and these other services form... The Fediverse :fediverse:

Working on the website a bit. Think I got the color palette mostly nailed down. Attempting to learn how to use CSS grids now.

Dear , here's a tip: (and some other fedi server software) provides feeds for hashtags and users.

For example, here's mine:
mastodon.technology/@rysiek.rs

He're the RSS feed for the hashtag, as seen from the mastodon.technology instance:
mastodon.technology/tags/intro

I remember how a decade ago :birdsite: used to support RSS feeds for users. They killed it because that's not monetizable, or something. 🤷‍♀️

Well, fedi don't care. RSS is great for read-only following public stuff.

Mastodon for Tech Folks

This Mastodon instance is for people interested in technology. Discussions aren't limited to technology, because tech folks shouldn't be limited to technology either!
