Despite increasing leniency on frameworks being the only way to build for the web, hand-written HTML never disappeared and I feel is still a perfectly suitable way to build a personal website.

@0066cc I have built a couple of simpel websites for local businesses with Hugo (just HTML+CSS, no JS), which has worked out really well. It's just regular UNIX environment and the hugo binary file, nothing more.

The idea of a bash script based personal publishing system is really intriguing, as it has the potential to become the simplest and most evergreen solution for personal websites, ever.
